Feel the call of the sea: get to the coast in less than 20 minutes from the hotel
This is one of Montpellier’s hidden gems: you’re both in the city and by the sea. In under 20 minutes by car, the cobbled streets of the Écusson give way to the fine sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. The sound of the waves will lull you to sleep while you work on your tan.
At the weekend, the locals head to Carnon beach, the closest to the city (12 km). Step off the tram and admire vast sandy beaches and natural dunes stretching towards the horizon. Just 13 km away, Palavas-les-Flots offers the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Mediterranean seaside resort.
A little further by car, L’Espiguette beach in Le Grau-du-Roi offers easy access to the Camargue and its famous pink flamingos. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Montpellier. Between dips in the sea, why not try a variety of water sports: sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, towed inflatables, kitesurfing and diving.
